We are delighted to announce that Claire O'Brien and Chris Hobbs of Winchester based film production company History Bombs have now been united with their SFW:Shorts 14 awards!
Claire and Chris were chosen by the panel of independent judges to win the Michael Fuller Award for Best Film and by the audience in attendance at the SFW Screening and Awards event to receive the Audience Award! Their innovative and brilliantly achieved film A History of World War 1 (in one take) fought off stiff competition from 14 other shortlisted films including the latest offering from Ted and Carol Lyons who won last year's Audience Award. Ted and Carol's submission this year, WE'RE ALL BONKERS, again brilliantly captured the spirit of the SFW:Shorts competition.
In addition to the Michael Fuller Award, Phil Peel, who was last year's winner and a competition judge this year, presented Claire and Chris with 'goodies' which included tickets provided by Harbour Lights Picturehouse and 'bottles' courtesy of Cloud Wine on Bedford Place! Big thanks to each for their support.
The screening and awards day, held at Southampton Solent University's Sonar Cinema, included 4 key events this year starting with City Eye's Film School Red Carpet Screening where members of Film School were able to see films made throughout the year on the big screen. This was followed by the Diegesis Film Review Writing Competition and Exposure Filmmakers 48 Hour Challenge and then SFW:Shorts 2014. Over 30 films were shown through the day to over 150 people and demonstrated the extraordinary talent of our local filmmakers - as well as some from further afield! You can find all the results on the Competitions page.
