Earlybird deadline Monday 17th July
As recently announced Southampton Film Week is now open for submission of short films of all production styles and techniques and new for 2017, filmmakers can submit their short films to the following categories, Best Artist Film, Best Short Documentary and Best Short Fiction. Films must be no more than 10 minutes long (including credits). Submissions are accepted through FilmFreeway
The Best Short Documentary category is for non-fiction (factual) short films of any theme or style including animation, live action, talking heads, expository or reflective documentaries. Southampton Film Week has always had a strong relationship with documentary film. In fact the first ever winner at SFW: Shorts 2012 was awarded to artist and filmmaker Anna Cady for her film ‘30%’ which was subsequently selected in the Short Documentary Film category for Sundance and includes the glorious painted animations of Em Cooper (Kiss the Water). Documentary has continued to do well at SFW: Shorts including it's most recent win in 2015 for Kamil Iwanowicz's 'Bozena and Pawel'. Not to mention all the incredible feature length documentaries that have provided inspiration, information and entertainment throughout all of Southampton Film Week's programmes.
