Fresh Eyes on the World
Join One World Media and Southampton Film Week for the premier of three untold stories from Ethiopia, Ecuador and South Africa. Each of these stories is produced and directed by young talent who received a One World Media international reporting grant. These eye-opening stories will introduce you to the plight of students forced to flee Ethiopia, a transgender couple having their first baby in Ecuador and the forensic nurses at the heart of South Africa’s fight to reduce sexual assaults in the country. The screening will be followed by a Q&A with Olivia Crellin and Simisola Jolaoso as well as Fernando Mitjans, winner of this year’s One World Media Student Award. These three filmmakers will share their experiences of solo filmmaking abroad and answer any question about the challenges of solo shooting in far off lands. You will also have a chance to hear from the Director of One World Media about how you too can apply for an international reporting grant. One World Media is a non-profit organisation which supports international journalism and promotes media coverage of global issues. For over 25 years they have been working with partners in the UK and internationally to enable media that informs and connects the world’s people. Their production fund encourages young filmmakers to think big and to think globally by funding new stories from and about the developing world. Their annual awards celebrate the best media coverage of the wider world and our events connect new talent to the industry’s decision-makers. www.oneworldmedia.org.uk |
